What is Sympathy?

Sympathy is a gesture or act of support or caring … but you don’t necessarily need to feel it or understand it completely. It’s an acknowledgment that you’re sorry and cares about someone else’s trouble to an extent. Perhaps you understand parts of it and allow their behavior to continue, and the world or situation can often be a better place for it. Depending on the situation.

Sympathy can grow into Empathy with time, practice and skill. Sympathy is like pre-Empathy. Sympathy is used more than empathy in pop-culture references. Sympathy is a great quality; allowing others space and consideration. However, Empathy is deeper. Empathy has the risk of sucking you into someone’s pain, but with practice, like a provider, you don’t need to get sucked in.
