Whether you are looking for a new doctor or are brand new to Psychiatry or Therapy, you can have a combination of Therapy and Coaching here. Both Therapists and Life Coaches can learn from each other.
Therapists have an unconscious vision; they can help you see what’s happening deep down in your heart/your blind spot/what you’re lying to yourself about. A Life Coach can help you with actionable items and strategies to get things done. Life Coaching is similar to CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) which is a goal-oriented type of therapy. Ask yourself … how is a Life Coach going to help you Ace that Interview or Hold onto that Relationship if they can’t see the deep unconscious elements that keep getting in your way. It’s True, your greatest enemy is sometimes yourself. Thus, Both Therapy and Life Coaching are necessary. These two areas of Counseling need to be used together. Family and Couple therapy is also done here. Dr. Datta believes that a therapist should have a well-rounded understanding of all these therapeutic styles, however, that’s not always the case in the real world. As the patient or client, you deserve to be with someone who you feel good about. With a therapist who will guide you to find the answers that have eluded you. However, at the end of the day, it is what you make of it.
